Overview Professional Surface Treatment Services

Surface treatment improves the appearance, corrosion resistance, wear performance and dimensional stability of machined parts. Match a process by substrate below, and see full specifications on each treatment page.

We provide one-stop service from CNC machining to surface treatment: anodizing, electroplating, electroless nickel, painting, bead blasting, polishing and passivation are all completed in-house, ensuring controllable lead times and traceable quality. Surface finishing not only improves appearance but also significantly enhances corrosion resistance, wear resistance and insulation.

Choose a process by substrate

  • Aluminum alloys: Type II anodizing, Type III anodizing, bead blasting, polishing, brushing
  • Steel and iron: zinc plating, chrome plating, electroless nickel, powder coating
  • Stainless steel: passivation, electropolishing, bead blasting, painting
  • Titanium alloys: anodizing, PVD coating, bead blasting
  • Engineering plastics: plastic painting, silk screening, laser engraving, vacuum metallizing

All treatments can be quoted together with machining, with a standard lead time of 2-5 business days. Thickness, adhesion and salt-spray test reports are available on request.

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

The most frequently asked questions about process selection, compatible materials, film thickness and lead time.

Related to Surface Treatment

Can anodizing or painting match specific colors?+

Yes, powder coating and liquid spray paint can match RAL, Pantone color cards, or customer-provided samples. Anodizing provides over 50 standard colors, with custom color matching available upon request.

Does Surface Treatment Affect Part Dimensions?+

Yes, most surface treatments increase the part's surface thickness. Anodization typically adds 0.5-2 mils per side, while electroplating adds 0.1-2 mils depending on the type. Our engineers account for this material allowance during machining to ensure the final dimensions meet specifications.

What Is the Difference Between Type II and Type III Anodizing?+

Type II is standard anodizing with a thinner oxide layer (0.5-1.5 mil), suitable for decoration and corrosion resistance. Type III (hard) anodizing features a thicker oxide layer (1-2 mil) with significantly higher hardness and wear resistance, ideal for functional applications.

Which Materials Can Be Anodized?+

Anodizing is primarily used for aluminum alloys (6061, 7075, 2024). Titanium alloys can also be anodized. Other metals such as steel and brass require different surface treatments like electroplating or passivation.

What Is the Typical Surface Roughness for 3-Axis Machined Parts?+

Standard machined surface roughness is 125 Ra (3.2 µm); finish machining achieves 63 Ra (1.6 µm). Post-processing such as sandblasting or polishing can further improve surface quality.

Can 5-axis machining process Inconel and other special alloys?+

Yes, our 5-axis equipment is specifically designed for difficult-to-machine materials. We have extensive experience machining Inconel, titanium alloys, Hastelloy, and other superalloys commonly used in the aerospace and energy industries.

What Is the Difference Between 5-Axis Simultaneous and 5-Axis Positioning (3+2) Machining?+

5-axis simultaneous motion means all five axes move during cutting, enabling complex 3D contour machining. 5-axis positioning (3+2) locks rotary axes at specific angles, then uses standard 3-axis movement. Continuous 5-axis suits complex profiles; positioning 5-axis is better for multi-face prismatic parts.

What is the Difference Between CNC Turning and CNC Machining?+

In CNC turning, the workpiece rotates while the tool remains stationary, suitable for cylindrical parts such as shafts, pins, and sleeves. In CNC machining, the workpiece is stationary while the tool rotates, ideal for flat, prismatic and complex 3D geometric shapes.
